Acckkk… I’m in love with the Bird Crazy Stamp Set and matching Bird Crazy Framelits Die Set! I decided to make a spattered background for my birdy Halloween card. Frightened bird jeanne_Streiff

I splattered the background with Island IndigoPumpkin Pie, and Elegant Eggplant Ink (the same colors I used to watercolor my bird). Then I embossed with Texture Fades Cobwebs. I sponged the raised areas and edge of the panel with Soft Suede Ink. I used a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker to trace over over the spider webs.  Crazy Birds 4 jeanne.streiff

Next I die cut the phrase (Thinlits Handwritten Halloween). I used my Sizzix Die Brush & Foam Pad to pop the phrase out. Crazy Birds 3 jeanne.streiff

I stamped the bird with Jet Black Stazon (and my MISTI… best stamping tool ever!) on Watercolor Paper. I left my stamp in the MISTI.. I’ll tell you why in a minute. I used an Aqua Painter and Island IndigoPumpkin Pie, and Elegant Eggplant Ink to watercolor my bird. Let dry completely and then put the colored image back in the MISTI and stamp a 2nd time for a perfect outline. No more washed out looking lines when you color… love that! Crazy Birds jeanne.streiff

Die cut the bird with the Bird Crazy Framelits Die Set . Take a look at how tightly these dies cut to the stamped image. Very cool!Crazy Birds 2 jeanne.streiff

I added a little spider to the corner made from a black brad. I added legs with a marker and teeny white eyes with a toothpick and some white acrylic paint.Crazy Birds 6 jeanne.streiff

Crackled Hello

This is my card for this week’s Mix-Ability challenge (MIX130) at Splitcoast.

To make my background I used products from Earth Safe Finishes. I painted Milk Chocolate Chalk it up and let it dry. Then I added a layer of Crackle medium and let dry. I used a coat of English Tea Cake Chalk It Up paint for the top layer.

After my paint was dry I stamped the Swallowtail image from Stampin’ Up! image on top with my Misti from My Sweet Petunia. One of my favorite things about this tool is you can stamp the image multiple times if needed and it always stays in the same place. Very handy on uneven surfaces like paint.

I used Bermuda Bay ink and a waterbrush to add some color to the butterfly.
