MIX89 A Hello From Dr. House

It’s time for a new Mix-Ability Challenge on Splitcoasterstampers!

This week Lydia challenged us to cut an image from a magazine and make a mask with it.

MIX Gentleman Jeanne_Streiff

My first step was to create a quick wash background on watercolor paper (Ranger Distress Rusty Hinge & Broken China). I kept it pretty light so I could add more color later with my mask. MIX Gentleman 4 Jeanne_Streiff

After much debating on an image I chose my favorite TV doctor. He was missing part of his arm so I carefully took the magazine magazine apart and cut out some extra paper from the page on the other side.MIX Gentleman 1 Jeanne_Streiff

And here he is cut out.MIX Gentleman 2 Jeanne_Streiff

The I put a couple coats of Gesso on him. A Gel medium  would have been better but since I’m not home I used what I had. MIX Gentleman 3 Jeanne_Streiff

Next I placed my mask on my wash background and went to town sponging and splattering (Ranger Distress Rusty Hinge & Broken China & Vintage Photo). I sprayed a teeny bit of white on with Dylusions White Linen Spray (LOVE this spray!). And then…………MIX Gentleman 5 Jeanne_Streiff

I removed the mask! Pretty cool, huh?MIX Gentleman 6 Jeanne_Streiff

I finished things off with a hat, mustache and tie from the Impression Obsession Retro Masculine set &  a Hello die from the Impression Obsession Greetings SetMIX Gentleman angle Jeanne_Streiff

AA Great Day
